Owners Roger and Darlene Gaboury
Darlene and Roger are the owners of the "Blue Heron Estate" and they are cat lovers. Lug and Monster are their fur babies (reasons for those names to be explained later...) When they first viewed the property it was the cattery previously called "Puss N Boots" that sealed their decision to make this their forever home (according to Roger that is "furrever") Roger is the business director and chief giver of pats!! Darlene is a nurse and owns and operates the Skintegrity CosMedical Medi Spa and wellness clinic also located on the estate. Darlene is in charge of staffing at Purradise and loves to give pats and help out as needed. Together they make a great team to love and care for all of the guests that come to the lodge.
Hi my name is Stephanie and I am a “cat – a – holic”.
For two decades I have been working with the feline community trying to accommodate their needs, appreciate their personalities and live up to their expectations and on a few occasions have managed to be successful!
I fell in love with our feline friends while working at an SPCA doing morning assessments
of their behavior. It allowed me to appreciate how truly remarkable they are and how each and every cat is as different as each and every human can be. They are truly amazing and I have been a cat ‘mom’ever since. Currently I share accommodations with Nala (a rescue from a wood pile in Port Alberni) I
adopted from the Port Alberni SPCA and Rocky Wilder (adopted from the Nanaimo SPCA who has a history of urinary bladder obstruction). I am a Registered Veterinary Technician working in Nanaimo and have the pleasure to live above “Purradise” in “Purradise” with the feline community below.
I enjoy feline and animal behavior and have completed the American Association for Feline Practitioners Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional program several years ago as well as have a current Fear Free certificate. During this past year I volunteered for a feline and canine spay and neuter project in the interior of BC, worked with wildlife at MARS in Merville and hold a Grooming Certificate.
